Kinke Kooi (b. 1961, Leeuwarden) studied at the Academy of Visual Arts in Arnhem, where she still lives and works. In her drawings she magnifies small subtleties to the level where looking becomes a haptic experience.
In her work she emancipates subjects such as pliability, civility, the support of imprisonment and hospitality. Her work is included in museum collections in the Netherlands (including Museum Arnhem and Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam) and various private collections in the United States, where she has exhibited regularly since 1995.
