“Check Yourself ” is the first solo gallery show by the Antwerp based painter Loïc Devaux. Drawing inspiration from Ice Cube’s single ‘CheckYo Self’, the show title features a double entendre. The title references the checkered patterns that are found throughout all of the works in the show, and which are also a common element to his artistic practice. Devaux uses these patterns to reflect his desire for repetition and daily routine.
